Our Culture
Everything you need to know about One On One: Ping Pong. PowerStand. P.I.G.
Well, maybe you should know a little more…
Are You In?
Our goal is nothing short of being number one in everything we do. Sound simple enough, right? Well, it’s a lot simpler when every team member is totally invested in what we’re doing. So we often ask each other, “Are You In?” If you’re not, you might want to work somewhere else. If you are, let’s rock.
PowerStand
What is PowerStand? It’s a bi-monthly meeting with every One On One team member that recharges and redirects efforts for the next two weeks. This is where we talk about wins, potential concerns and, of course, showcase our talents. Why wouldn’t we have a sweet guitar solo or flash mob in the middle of a meeting?
We’re in It to Win It
It’s not just about crushing competitors; it’s about dominating every inter-office “sport” possible. Here are some competitive opportunities for our team members: Street Fighter, air hockey, ping pong, scooter races, P.I.G, remote control car stylings, chili cook-offs, dance battles, and crazy bird dodging.
Our competitive spirit comes to a head at our March Madness event. This is when things get interesting. We take the games out of the office and separate the winners from the … other winners. We go to a sweet location to play our championship games and watch the March Madness basketball games in style.
Core Values
Yeah, we like having fun but what do we really stand for? Our Core Values help define what makes us a truly great and unique team:
Core Value #1 – Throw Your Hat Over the Wall
If you want something done right, you have to go all in. When we throw our hats over the wall, we are saying we are dedicated to finding the most efficient and innovative solutions and won’t stop working until we’ve reached our goal and picked up our hat on the other side of the wall.
Core Value #2 – Keep the Cattle Moving
The integrity of a person is measured when they have the opportunity to take advantage or stretch the truth and they choose not to.
Core Value #3 – Cut Down the Nets
This core value is inspired by our friend Thurl Bailey. At North Carolina State University, under head coach Jim Valvano, Thurl and the rest of the team regularly participated in a rehearsal of the championship ritual of cutting down the nets. This exercise reminded the team of their ultimate goal, an NCAA championship. It was about ambition, desire, belief, and remembering the big picture. Their dreams came to fruition when they won the national title in 1983.
We use Thurl’s experience to keep our end goals in mind, visualizing our successes and taking the steps to make it happen.
Core Value #4 – Five.12: Giving Back in Surprising and Unexpected Ways
Regardless of how big or small, we should be willing to give everything to help those around us.
More Core Values to come…
